Hal Robson-Kanu’s ban is upheld after West Brom striker was penalised for leading with arm
Welshman came off the bench to score the winner against Burnley but was sent off 12 minutes later for a challenge on Matt Lowton
HAL ROBSON-KANU'S ban has been upheld after the West Brom striker saw red for leading with an arm against Burnley.
And West Brom were unsuccessful in their appeal against Martin Atkinson's decision.
Robson-Kanu will sit out of tomorrow's Carabao Cup clash with Accrington Stanley and Prem games with Stoke and Brighton.
The Baggies' clash was drifting towards a goalless draw when Tony Pulis sent the hitman on.
And he took just ten minutes to make an impact as he raced onto Matt Phillips' flick-on and rifled home right-footed.
It was only his fourth goal since joining as a free agent after last year’s Euros, and meant the Baggies have won their opening two top flight league games for the first time since 1978.
But Robson-Kanu's joy was short lived as Atkinson decided a clumsy challenge on Lowton merited a straight red.
After the game, boss Pulis said: “He obviously took his goal really well. It was a good goal.
“And then the sending off is obviously disappointing.
“I’ve not seen it, but I’ll have a good luck at it and then I’ll comment.
“Whether it was or wasn’t the referee has deemed that decision so we have to get on with it.”
