With the Catalan club yet to replace Neymar in attack, Suarez's absence had left Ernesto Valverde's side short of options going forward.

But just a week after his knee injury, Barca gave their strongest hint yet that Suarez is closing in on fitness after posting a video to their social channels.

It shows the 30-year-old looking sharp as he was being put through a series of training drills in sand.

Training in sand helps soften the impact on the knee instead of running on hard ground.

And Barca will be looking to further increase his training as they rush to get him firing for the La Liga campaign.

The club have been left increasingly frustrated this summer following the departure of Neymar for £198million.
