Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer close to £15million Crystal Palace exit after West Brom move breaks down
Frank De Boer steps up pursuit for in-demand Austrian in attempt to bolster defence at Selhurst Park
TOTTENHAM star Kevin Wimmer is closing in on a £15m switch to Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old is thought to have been set for a move to West Brom, but he has turned them down as Tony Pulis wanted him to play at left-back.
And Palace boss Frank de Boer has moved swiftly for Austrian defender, beating Premier League rivals Stoke to a deal.
Wimmer has been told by Spurs he can find a new club after just two-seasons at White Hart Lane.
He is not in Mauricio Pochettino's plans this season after snapping-up Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez for a club-record £38.4m.
The Ex-FC Koln ace also wants to leave Tottenham as well, after becoming fed-up with irregular first-team football.
Wimmer has been targeted by a number of clubs across Europe, especially in Germany where he spent three seasons.
He joined Tottenham in the summer of 2015 from FC Koln for £4.3m after moving there from his native Austria.
But he has made just 31 appearances for Pochettino's side since then and has struggled to hold down a place in the starting eleven.
Meanwhile, Palace are also thought to be interested in his Tottenham team-mate Michel Vorm.
