Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho set to join Barcelona NEXT summer in £138m deal

The disgruntled midfielder will spend another season at Anfield, despite his burning desire for a summer switch

A mega-money switch to Barcelona for Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho seemed almost certain this summer, but the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.

The move to La Liga has reportedly been postponed until next year.

It appears that Coutinho will be spending another stint in Merseyside until the two clubs can agree a fee for the 25-year-old next year, according to .

Liverpool continued to reject a catalogue of bids from the Spanish giants, with the highest of around £138million.

The English transfer window slammed shut last night, but Spanish clubs are able to sign players until midnight tonight.

After four-and-a-half seasons with the club, the Brazilian expressed his desire for a new challenge outside of Anfield. He submitted a formal transfer request and tried to force a move to Spain.

He is yet to feature for the Reds this season due a 'back injury' caused by stress, but he managed to score for the Brazil international side.

The Reds have kicked off the league campaign in style, with seven points from the first three outings.

Liverpool signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, which may provide Coutinho with competition within Jurgen Klopp's well-knit side.
