Poland, Montenegro, Azerbaijan and Denmark edge closer to World Cup 2018 qualification after securing three points
MESUT OZIL scored in sublime style to kick off Germany's triumphant 6-0 win against Norway.
Slovenia, Poland, Montenegro, Azerbaijan and Denmark scarpered tonight's World Cup qualifiers with three points.
Ozil hit the headlines last week whilst on international duty after fans were left shocked by seeing him track back and redeem possession with a lunging challenge.
Tonight, he continued to impress. The 28-year-old received the ball on the left side of the box from Jonas Hector, before firing it into the top left corner to kick-start proceedings for the Germans.
Julian Draxler then doubled the tally with a strike into the bottom left corner - assisted by Ozil
A third came just four minutes after for Germany, with Timo Werner making it onto the score sheet with a left-footed effort.
Werner bagged a brace just before the interval, then Leon Goretzka made it five with a headed effort into the bottom left corner.
Mario Gomes capped off an encouraging display for Joachim Löw's side a 79th miute header from the centre of the box.
Elsewhere in the group stages, Spurs ace Christian Eriksen buried a stunning 30-yard free kick to redeem an early deficit against Armenia. Thomas Delaney secured his hat trick just before the final whistle and Åge Hareide's triumphed 4-1.
Poland beat Kazakhstan 3-0, with goals from Arkadiusz Milik, Kamil Glik and Robert Lewandowski.
Lithuania suffered a 4-0 defeat to Slovenia - Josip Ilicic bagged a brace, followed by late strikes from Benjamin Verbic and Valter Birsa.
Stevan Jovetic scored in the 75th minute to secure a three points for Montenegro against Romania with a 1-0 win.
