Ozil hit the headlines last week whilst on international duty after fans were left shocked by seeing him track back and redeem possession with a lunging challenge.

Tonight, he continued to impress. The 28-year-old received the ball on the left side of the box from Jonas Hector, before firing it into the top left corner to kick-start proceedings for the Germans.

Julian Draxler then doubled the tally with a strike into the bottom left corner - assisted by Ozil

Werner bagged a brace just before the interval, then Leon Goretzka made it five with a headed effort into the bottom left corner.

Mario Gomes capped off an encouraging display for Joachim Löw's side a 79th miute header from the centre of the box.
