JOSE MOURINHO has revealed that he feels 'so sorry' for Arsenal fans and has 'no idea' how Arsene Wenger remains in charge - according to Piers Morgan.

After bumping into the former editor while shopping in Harrods, the Manchester United boss took the chance to mock his Premier League rival.

The Gunners endured a dismal start to the new season, losing two of their first three Premier League fixtures.

Meanwhile Manchester United have been labelled as early favourites to win the title following a blistering start to the 2017/18 campaign, and they currently sit top of the table.

During a chat with the Daily Mail columnist, Mourinho reportedly said: "I feel so sorry for you Arsenal fans.

"I have some good friends who love Arsenal like you do and they are just as depressed as you about the club.

"They suffer so badly, it is a terrible thing to observe."

Morgan, an avid 'WengerOut' supporter, then asked: "How the hell is Arsene Wenger still in his job?", to which Mourinho replied: "No idea."

"But I hope he stays in it for a very long time."

After digesting a compliment regarding the excellence of his current side at Manchester United, Mourinho said: "I am happy. Very happy."

The Red Devils are currently top of the Premier League table with three wins from their first four fixtures.

After arriving at Old Trafford and succeeding Louis van Gaal last summer, the 'Special One' has finally found his stride after a shaky first season in charge.

Arsenal are currently tenth in the league table, but an encouraging 3-0 weekend win against Bournemouth could boost the morale of Wenger's side.

The Gunners boss signed a two-year contract extension at the Emirates back in May, much to the surprise of Mourinho.
