A RUGBY player suffered horror internal injuries after a beer bottle was shoved up his bum during a sick initiation ceremony.
The lad had just made his debut for Howe of Fife when he was made to run up the aisle of the team bus with the unopened drink in his backside.
But the perverted ritual went wrong when a reckless teammate hit the bottle — leaving the rookie needing hospital treatment and sparking a cop probe.
A source said: “It was the boy’s first match and it’s tradition that new guys have to do an initiation.
“After a few beers he stripped off and had an unopened bottle stuck up his back passage.
“As he made his way down the coach one of the other players banged the bottle as a joke.
“The young guy suddenly doubled over in pain and was effing and blinding.”
It is understood the lad was taken to hospital when the bus arrived back in Cupar, Fife.
Police were called and a 22-year-old man was later charged with a sexual offence.
But he dodged prosecution as the Crown dealt with him by “direct measure” — usually a warning or a small fine.
Several players and officials have been hit with three-month bans from the Scottish Rugby Union.

And members of the club have been ordered to take “behaviour classes” as a result.
The incident happened as the team returned home from a match in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire in September 2016.
Howe of Fife president Chris Reekie said: “The trustees recognise this behaviour fell well short of what is to be expected.
“We deeply regret the incident and hope everyone involved will learn from this and move forward.”
The club, who currently play in the third tier of Scottish rugby, were also hit with a £2,000 fine.
The SRU refused to comment.
