Former WWE champion was rumoured to be near a return to wrestling but has now snubbed the idea to stay with the MMA company

WWE legend CM Punk is back in training for his second UFC fight – following a loss after just two-minutes on his debut.

The 38-year-old ace was humiliated in September last year after he was outclassed by youngster Mickey Gall.

The five-time WWE champion was submitted with a rear naked choke, despite being paid a staggering £375,000 in his first professional bout at UFC 203.

He has been linked with a sensational move back into wrestling ever since the loss, after becoming one of the most loved characters in history.

But he is closer to a Octagon return than ring, after being snapped with MMA coach Duke Roufus after a heavy pad workout.

The Instagram post read: “Back in #PunkCamp with my man @cmpunk #cmpunk working hard & getting better every day. Working on his next Fight.”

It is not known where Punk's next UFC fight will take place or when, but it is understood it will not be until early next year.

WWE fans are desperate for him to return after he quit in January 2014, following nine-years with the company.

His charismatic personality and astonishing in-ring presence made him a favourite, including possibly the most famous 'Pipe-bomb Promo' ever.

Punk quit wrestling after a bust-up with owner Vince McMahon and chief Triple H over the way he was booked and perceived by the WWE.

His close pal Samoa Joe spoke openly about the the welterweight coming back to the squared-circle sometime in the future.

He said: “You never know with Punk. He is definitely somebody who does things his own way.

“I think the biggest thing is that you can never count out what his next move will be.

I think no one would have predicted his move to UFC.

“Nobody would have predicted a lot of things he does, so whatever he chooses to do, he will do what feels best in the moment.”
