Floyd Mayweather’s emotional tribute to cut man Rafael Garcia who died aged 88

Garcia wrapped Mayweather's gloves throughout his career, having spent almost 70 years in boxing

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has paid tribute to cut man Rafael Garcia, who has died aged 88.

Mayweather reportedly received a text from business partner Leonard Ellerbe on Sunday informing him that Garcia had been diagnosed with leukemia and had six months to live.

Mayweather headed to the house of the man who had wrapped his gloves throughout his career - with Garcia gone just two days later.

On his Instagram page, Mayweather posted a video montage of images of the duo together.

He captioned it: "RIP Grand Dad. I will always love you."

Mayweather Promotions added: "Rafael Garcia you will be missed. You lived your life to the fullest, and you will be remembered for all your contributions to the sport of boxing.

: "A lot of times when we see people who are older, they become sick they and don’t want you to know. I honestly feel in my heart that he was waiting to see Floyd.

"He was always full of joy and full of life and always happy.

"He loved life, and he lived life to the fullest. He loved working with Floyd, he took great pride in taking care of Floyd’s hands.

"Floyd was very close to him — Floyd referred to him as his grandfather and Floyd loved him like that and took care of him like that.

"Floyd completely changed his life from a financial standpoint and lifted him and his family. He was able to make good investments and able to make trips with his family."

Garcia helped an amazing 35 world champs during during a boxing career that spanned almost 70 years.

He was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame this year.
