GARY LINEKER didn't miss the opportunity to take a jibe at Alan Hansen at this year's Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

Talking about the England U17s summer World Cup win, Lineker jibes "and who says you can't win anything with kids," as he looks towards a guilty-ridden Hansen.

The 62-year-old's blunder in 1995 still haunts him to this day, and Lineker reminded him of it yet again.

It happened over 20 years ago after Alex Ferguson's youthful United side lost 3-1 to Aston Villa on the opening day of the 1995-96 campaign.

Hansen said "you can't win anything with kids" on Match of the Day that night, and Manchester United went on to win the double that same year.

Anthony Joshua is the favourite for this year's award, with F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton also in the running.

Hansen appeared as a pundit on Match of the Day alongside Lineker from 1992 to 2014.

The Scot made over 400 appearances for Liverpool in a career spanning over a whopping 14 years, while earning 26 caps for his national side.
