The Bluebirds are second only to Wolves in the Championship, with 47 points from 22 outings.

Cardiff City's board, including chairman Mehmet Dalman, are keen for the English boss to stay in Wales.

He said: "I’ll definitely be working next year, I’ve made up my mind on that, I will have another season.

“It doesn’t bother me staying as I am and if I feel happy I will stay another year and I’ll sign another deal with the club, but I will be working next year, health providing, of course.

“I’m always speaking to Mehmet. When you want a player permanently, they want to know if the manager is going to be here first. That sort of stuff doesn’t bother me.

“Younger managers want a longer contract but it doesn’t bother me and the main thing is I’ll be here this season and we are talking, we just haven’t had much time, really.

"We’ll get around to it before the new year and have a chat."

Warnock is battling towards a record eighth promotion of his career with Cardiff City this term.

He previously indicated his disapproval of the English top flight. But as promotion beckons for the Bluebirds, he remains focused entirely on the Championship campaign.

He said: “I said I didn’t enjoy the Premier League but we’re a long way from that and I’ve got my ideas, but like I said it’s about looking after ourselves for now.

“There are a lot of big sides and so we have to bring our squad up to numbers now, first.

"There’s a great feeling, nobody has moaned and with people like Sean Morrison the skipper coming in even when he’s injured, things like that are important.

“We looked at the end of October first of all and now we’re looking at January 1st, and we’re actually in front of that now, and with the players coming back, I think we can have a better second half.”
