WWE news: Vince McMahon, Triple H and other wrestling chiefs in shock talks for retired Daniel Bryan to return and win the Royal Rumble
WWE are reportedly in shock discussions for Daniel Bryan to come out of retirement and win the Royal Rumble.
The 36-year-old, real name Bryan Danielson, was forced to hang up his wrestling boots two years ago through injury.
Bryan, a former World Heavyweight and WWE Champion, suffered major recurring concussion problems and has since taken over as general manager of SmackDown.
However, claim the company's creative team have pitched the idea of him making a stunning comeback to emerge triumphant in the 30-man over-the-top-rope extravaganza on January 28.
And that could lead to him securing a title shot and the main event at WrestleMania in April.
The reports of a return for one of the most popular and beloved wrestlers of all-time is causing huge excitement backstage.
Bryan hit the peak of his powers as he became the leader of the Yes Movement and created one of the most popular chants in history.
The love of the superstar grew so large that four years ago that fan power pushed WWE into putting him into the main event of WrestleMania 30.

He has always maintained that he would do everything possible to return to active competition and after some time away from WWE he did come back to take charge of SmackDown.
But his wife and fellow WWE legend Brie Bella got fans in a frenzy two months ago when she provided an update on his condition.
She revealed that he had been cleared by several doctors to return to wrestling and was just awaiting the green light for WWE medics.
And after following a number of medical problems, Bryan posted a hopeful message on Twitter.
He wrote: "There was a time when WWE wouldn't let @RealKurtAngle compete.
"Tonight he won a PPV main event in a TLC match. #SoYourSayingTheresAChance."
Brie said: "He just wishes he was in that ring.
"I was with him the day he was told he would have to retire due to health issues and for WWE to find a position for him so that he could still be part of the family, for me as his wife, that's like a dream come true.
"Bryan has been happy being back. He knows wrestling better than anyone so being the general manager is the perfect position for him.
"He is (trying to come back to wrestle). Literally from the day they told him he couldn't do it anymore, he's been all over the United States and to all different doctors to figure out why and what he can do to turn that no into a yes.
"He's being doing oxygen chambers, he's been doing anything you can imagine. You have to love someone's passion and his passion is so strong for wrestling."
She added: "All these doctors are telling him he can wrestle, they don't see what the issue is.
"I think WWE are looking at it and that's why he's been really vocal lately because he does have hope. They are willing to look at what the other doctors are saying.
"You don't blame a company for being careful, and Bryan gets it, he understands WWE's point of view."
Bryan has previously stated that if WWE do not clear him then he will leave the company when his contract expires and go elsewhere to wrestle.
