Boxing ace Mzuvukile Magwaca’s career in doubt after being shot with rifle during armed house robbery
WBF, IBF Intercontinental and WBA International bantamweight champion Magwaca's leg was broken with shot from an R4 rifle
SOUTH AFRICAN boxer Mzuvukile Magwaca's career is up in the air after being shot in the leg during a house robbery.
The incident happened last month in Cape Town with the bullet from a R4 rifle breaking bones in his leg and leaving him unable to bend his knee.
And the slow progress made by WBF, IBF Intercontinental and WBA International bantamweight champion Magwaca has left his team fearing he will have to hang up his gloves and vacate his titles.
His emotional coach Zola Koti said: “What happened to him shocked us to the core.
"We are still confused about what will happen to his career because everything depends on doctors, the amount of time they will book him off.
"They could declare the title vacant, giving other boxers a chance to compete for his titles."
The gunmen, who were disturbed by Magwaca as they attempted to take a TV off his wall at around 10pm, have yet to be arrested.
And the Cape Town native admitted his fears back in January over how the incident will impact his ring career.
