A WEIGHTLIFTER was left with blood exploding from his nose before completing a near-half ton dead lift.
Russian strongman Mikhail Shivlyakov's nose erupted as he attempted to lift an incredible 67st - or426kg - during the 2018 Arnold Sports Festival this weekend.
The competition in Colombus, Ohio, shows off incredible feats of strength, with world-record breakers winning £3,600 and a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Amongst other bizarre shows of power one competitor attempted to throw a 25kg (55lb) ring weight over a 20ft bar.
Meanwhile three participants tried to lift a 143kg (315lb) dumbbell over their head while one even looked to lift a 147kg (324lb) stone over a 3ft 8in bar.
But it was Shivlyakov who stole the show.
The Russian, 37 - wearing a beret, a tip to his time in the Navy as a Marine sailor - aimed to complete a deadlift of nearly half a ton.
However, the strain of it all became too much, as midway through the immense display of strength Shivlyakov's nose began to pour with blood.
With the blood cascading down his face, the brave Russian managed to soldier on and incredibly completed the lift.
Shivlyakov trudged away triumphantly, mopping the blood from his face with a towel.
However, in a horrible twist of fate, the 426kg lift did NOT win the event.
Thor Bjornsson - known by many as "The Mountain" on hit TV show Game Of Thrones - completed a world-record deadlift of 472kg (1040lb), 44kg (97lb)more than Shivlyakov.
On Friday, Bjornsson had already beaten last year's Strongman Classic champion Brian Shaw to win the bag-over-bar competition.
The Icelandic behemoth, 29, launched a 43kg (103lb) bag over a 15ft-high bar. He also finished third in the stone shoulder event.
