DAVID PRICE was knocked out in devastating fashion in the fifth round by Alexander Povetkin to send social media into meltdown.
The 2008 Olympic bronze medallist pulled himself off the canvas in the third round, only to be blown away by the 38-year-old minutes later.
Price had wobbled the fearsome Russian late in the third round, with referee Howard Foster issuing the former WBA 'Regular' heavyweight champ a standing eight-count.
But any chances of a huge upset were wiped away when Povetkin landed a huge right to Price's temple, before landing a left hook that left Price sprawled across the ring.
It is the fifth loss and KO defeat the Liverpool fan has suffered in his 27-fight career.
Price was stopped by Christian Hammer last year in the seventh round, as well as being wiped out twice by the hands of Tony Thompson, and once by Erkan Teper.
But it was a brave and valiant attempt by the former British and Commonwealth champion, who showed he still possesses lethal power.
However, it was he who was to succumb to power, as he required an oxygen mask following the end of the bout.
And while the fight was waved away early on, Price has received praise from fans who commended his display.
