Conor McGregor described as a ‘fiercely loyal friend’ by his manager who insists his man will be ‘back fighting as soon as possible’
Audie A Attar launched a passionate defence of the Irish fighter following his arrest on charges of assault
CONOR McGREGOR'S manager has launched a fierce defence of a "fiercely loyal friend" after the UFC fighter was arrested.
Audie A Attar released a short statement late last night saying that there had been a "lot of misinformation" about his client, and that The Notorious will be "back to fighting as soon as possible".
McGregor has been released on bail after being charged with three counts of assault and one of criminal mischief.
This relates to an incident where he, along with a number of friends, stormed a UFC media day in New York and attacked a bus containing fellow fighters.
It is believed that the incident at the Barclays Center was a direct consequence of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s run in with Conor’s friend Artem Lobov earlier last week.
Attar said: “So much rumour and misinformation about my client, Conor McGregor. The matter is in the hands of law enforcement and I cannot really say more.
"Conor is a great father, a fiercely loyal friend, and one of the best athletes in the world. He looks forward to getting back to fighting as soon as possible.”
During the UFC 223 press day, McGregor, his good friend Lobov and members of their team rampaged the backstage area of Barclays Center and proceeded to attack one of the UFC buses containing fighters.

The whole event was captured on video showing McGregor tossing a trolley and other items at the bus smashing the windows and injuring a number of fighters onboard.
The Notorious appeared at Brooklyn Court on Friday, alongside his friend Cian Cawley. Both posted bail and have been released with their court date set for June 14.
During the footage that emerged McGregor and his crew can be seen punching the windows of the bus and trying to throw various items, from barriers and bins, at the window.

Other passengers, including a team of UFC contenders appear to be shaken up by the attack, with McGregor and his friends fleeing from the scene.
The MMA fighter could face seven years in jail - the maximum sentence for his charge of felony criminal mischief - following his violent rampage in Brooklyn.
