Eddie Hearn says World Boxing Super Series organisers ‘are asking people to step in’ for George Groves
Reigning WBA super-middleweight champ posted on Twitter that his shoulder 'has healed perfectly' after surgery
EDDIE HEARN has revealed he is unsure whether George Groves will fight in the World Boxing Super Six Series.
The reigning WBA super-middleweight champ posted on Twitter this week to say he had fully recovered from shoulder surgery after sustaining in his win against Chris Eubank.
The 30-year-old is due to defend his world title against Liverpudlian Callum Smith in the WBSS final.
The pair were scheduled to face off on June 2 after Groves applied for a one month extension.
But promoter Hearn believes the tournament organisers are preparing for a final without the champ, in what would be a bitter blow to British boxing.
Speaking to , Groves' promoter said: "They [WBSS] are asking people to step in, obviously waiting.
"I don't know whether George put out that tweet to say 'I'm alright, don't take it away from me'.
"It's interesting, I'm not sure what is going to happen there."
Taking to Twitter, Groves wrote: "This week underwent a six-week post-op CT scan on the injured shoulder which I’m VERY pleased to confirm has healed perfectly.

"All united and good to proceed as planned! So a July 7th @WBSuperSeries final is possible provided a 1 month extension is granted."
Groves underwent surgery at the end of February, as he left the Manchester Arena with his left arm in a sling following his horrific injury.
