Why isn’t Andy Murray playing at the French Open this year?
ANDY MURRAY has been included on the French Open entry list for the clay court grand slam event between May 27 and June 10.
But the Scot will miss out playing at Roland Garros for the first time since 2006.
Murray, aged 31, was a finalist in 2016 when he lost to Novak Dkokovic 6-3, 1-6, 2-6, 4-6.
Despite the defeat, this was seen as one of his greatest achievements given that the former world No 1 is recognised as a superior hard and grass court player.
So tell me exactly why is Murray out of the French Open?
Murray has not played since last year’s Wimbledon because of injury and underwent surgery on his damaged hip at the start of the year in Australia.
Is Roland Garros simply not worth the risk?
Basically, the unforgiving nature of clay is considered too risky for the three-time Grand Slam champion as he plots his return to competitive action.
