New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to bolster his squad before the Premier League season gets under way.

Corriere dello Sport claims that the Chelsea chiefs met with Juventus chief executive Fabio Paratici on Wednesday.

Juventus are willing to offload Higuain following the £99m arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

The Italian striker scored 36 league goals from 35 starts under the management of Sarri at Napoli in the 2015/16 season.

But the 30-year-old struggled for form last term in Serie A and only scored 16.

Sarri is keen to add strength to his defence, with Rugani emerging as a top target.

He is under contract in Turin until 2021 after he extended his deal with the Serie A champions in December.

The 23-year-old impressed under Massimiliano Allegri last season as Juventus won the Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

But Sarri is willing to spend big to make his side contenders for the Premier League.

Rugani's arrival will fuel speculation that Gary Cahill could leave this summer after seven years.

Speaking about the English defender, Sarri said: "With respect to Cahill, I think he can still give us a lot".

The new Chelsea chief has already signed Napoli midfielder on a five-year deal.
