The Open 2018: Zach Johnson says people always mistake him for world No 1 Dustin Johnson

The 2015 Open champion has one more Major than his namesake and is well placed for a second Claret Jug at Carnoustie

HE has more Majors, a better shot at winning this Open championship and a Green Jacket hanging up in his wardrobe at home.

Yet still Zach Johnson gets mistaken for world No 1 Dustin Johnson.

Zach bagged a Claret Jug at St Andrews in 2010 and won the Masters in 2007.

A second round four-under 67 leaves him in the perfect spot to win his third Major over the weekend at Carnoustie.

Dustin on the other hand is heading home after shooting six over to miss the halfway cut by miles.

That hasn't stopped people getting them mixed up, however.

American Zach, 42, who has won more than £33million on the PGA Tour, said: "I've been called Dustin many times. I doubt he's been called Zach that many
times!

"It goes back to what you said. Maybe some people do assume, when they see the name up there, that it's Dustin."

Not that that bothers him, though.

He added: "I certainly am not the No 1 player in the world whose name ends in Johnson.

"What Dustin's done over the past decade and specifically the last few years is very remarkable.

"He's seemed to have played well regardless of geography, regardless of the time of year. He gets what he deserves."

"The comparison of Johnson and Johnson is probably not fair to him or me.

"He's won one Major but the odds are in his favour of winning another at some point."
