HUDDERSFIELD are considering a move for Everton's £23million flop Davy Klaassen.
But the Terriers' German boss David Wagner will have to fight off interest from Werder Bremen, who also want the Dutch international.
The Toffees signed 16-cap Klaassen from Ajax last summer after the attacking midfielder had won three league titles with the Amsterdam club and helped them into the 2017 Europa League finals.
However, the 27-year-old made just seven Premier League appearances last season, playing 16 times in all competitions without scoring.
Ambitious Wagner now believes Klaassen can help Huddersfield build on the 16th place they secured following promotion in 2017.
The Bundesliga outfit is reportedly ready to offer Everton a club record £13m for Klaassen.
But that would mean the Goodison club taking a £10m hit on the midfielder after just one season.
Huddersfield are financially strong enough to outbid the Germans for him and other Premier League clubs are understood to be interested in a deal.
Klaassen was signed by his compatriot Ronald Koeman, but the midfielder's fortunes soon declined.
A quick sale would free up transfer funds for new boss Marco Silva as he prepares for the season ahead.
