What event does he compete in and how many medals has he won?
Mears and Laugher compete in the 3m synchronised diving which is from the 3m springboard.
The pair teamed up together in 2013 but failed to qualify for the final of the World Championships in Barcelona.
After Mears recovered from an ankle injury in 2014, the pair won their first gold medal - at the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow.
From there they went on to win bronze in the World Championships in Kazan in 2015 and gold in the European Championships in 2016.

They beat American pair Sam Dorman and Michael Hixon (450.21) and Chinese pair Qin Kai and Cao Yuan (443.70) to win Great Britain's first ever Olympic gold medal.
Following the Olympics the pair have continued to show strength winning three silver in teh 3m Synchro in four events of the 2017 World Series and gold at the 2018 Commonwealth games to defend their title.
What was the accident which nearly ended his career?
In January 2009 when Mears was 15, he suffered a ruptured spleen whilst training in Sydney for the Youth Olympic Festival.
At the time he had glandular fever but had failed to show any symptoms and his organs were squeezed by swelling.
He lost two litres of blood and was given a 5% chance to live by the doctors before having emergency surgery to remove his spleen.
Mears appeared to make a miraculous recovery but just weeks after being released from intensive care his parents found him having a convulsive fit in his hotel.
After six hours, he was put into an induced coma and his parents expected him to have brain damage when he came round but he defied the odds again.
Mears was told he would never dive again, but the accident had spurred the youngster to want to keep up with the sport and he began practising again.
He has since admitted that he went back to diving too early as he was not fit or well enough to dive as he kept picking up viruses as his immune system was too week but just eighteen months later he represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
