MAURO ICARDI doesn't look like he'll be leaving his home of five years, as Inter Milan have put a new deal on the table.
The 25-year-old is set to sign a new deal where he'll receive a bumper pay packet of approximately £6.3m, as the Italian side keep hold of their top striker ahead of their return to the Champions League.
His wife, who is also his agent, fuelled speculation earlier this year when she stated that big clubs were ready to meet his release clause- which was set at £97m.
Real Madrid were poised to make an offer for the striker after pocketing £90m from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fans of the Spanish side were excited at the prospect of welcoming the Argentinian to the Bernabeu, but it seems that the plan all along was to stay in Italy.
Icardi will remain loyal to the club who he has bagged more than 20 goals for over the last three seasons, including last year where he finished it as the joint-top scorer in Serie A.
The Argentine hasn't always been a favourite of the Inter Milan fans, after making disparaging comments in his book.
But he won them over with his performances, especially last year where he found the back of the net 29 times.
The captain of the Italian side has always craved a spot in the Champions League and he finally got his wish when Inter secured a dramatic comeback over Lazio on the final day of the campaign.
They'll surely now be glad that they can hold onto their star man, after their season-opener showed their reliance on the captain.
Icardi was a shock ommission from the Argentina World Cup squad.
But under Lionel Scaloni's reign, he looks set to be welcomed back into the fold.
