But the superstar had a bitter exit from WWE in 2014 that ended in Punk winning a court case against the company this summer.

Since his departure Paul Heyman has joined forces with Brock Lesnar, who now also looks set to leave the wrestling company to return to UFC.

Heyman, who created the hugely-popular ECW in the 90s, was believed to have remained friends with Punk – but he insists he is unsure whether the outspoken ace will return to WWE after his flop in UFC as they are no longer in contact.

Speaking to , Heyman said: “I don’t text him at all. And... in this business I’ve learned never to presume that someone’s not coming back, but if anybody’s not coming back, he’s the exception that defines the rule.”
