Catalans’ Ben Jullien reveals he lived in a uni hall of residence at Warrington
Dragons back-rower used to live at the campus the Wolves train at during time at Challenge Cup final opponents
BEN JULLIEN hopes to ruin the Wembley hopes of a few familiar faces today – and the ones he washed and cooked alongside.
For the Catalans ace used to live at the university halls of residence Warrington train besides!
Jullien did not have a long journey home after sessions with the Wolves during his time there in 2016 and 2017, about a 50 yard walk as he resided at the University of Chester’s Padgate campus.
It meant telling other students to take the noise down at parties but also cooking and showering in communal kitchens and bathrooms as all he had was a bedroom!
Dragons and France back-rower Jullien, 23, revealed ahead of the Challenge Cup final: “It was a communal kitchen, shower and toilet. It was just my bedroom.
“And when we were in the kitchen, I’d learn some new words from the students as I’d be trying to understand what was being said. That helped with my English.
“Sometimes at night, other students would have a party, so when I wanted to rest I’d tell them to turn the music down!
“I’d be in my bed but then the music would start. I’d try to sleep with it on but I couldn’t, so I had to go down and tell them.
“I was over near the bar in my first year too – so that was loud at times and it was busy on a Friday and Saturday night but sometimes I played with Warrington at night, so I’d sleep anyway as I was so tired!
“It was very different but a great experience for my mentality. Now I’m stronger mentally and I’m showing it on the field. I was never tempted to join in a party either as I wanted to prove to myself that I can do it.”
