UNAI EMERY tried to convince Mesut Ozil to quit Arsenal for Paris-Saint Germain last season, according to reports.
The 46-year-old outlined his plans for the German star during a face-to-face meeting and he decided to stay at the Emirates.
According to , the meeting took place half-way through last season - before the 29-year-old decided to renew his contract.
Ozil, who joined the club from Real Madrid in 2013, now rakes in £300,000-a-week in North London.
But he sparked speculation over his future when he missed last weekend's win over West Ham.
Reports had suggested that the midfielder walked out of training following an explosive row with Emery.
The Gunners boss has since insisted that Ozil was not dropped for Saturday's match and was unable to play because he was ill.
But the German has been accused of a pulling a sickie after it was revealed that he was going to be playing in a different position.
He was hauled in the boss' office on Thursday to discuss a new role after he was subbed off the pitch during the 3-2 defeat to Chelsea.
With the two stars at loggerheads, Arsenal's board have stepped in to back the manager.
Ozil is now back in training with the squad ahead of this weekend's clash with Cardiff City.
He started the opening two matches of the season, which saw Arsenal lose to Manchester City and the Blues.
