West SHAMbles

West Ham are ‘shambolic’ and ‘will only want David Moyes or Sam Allardyce if they sack Manuel Pellegrini’

Four defeats from four has not been the start to the season that West Ham expected after overhauling their squad and management

WEST HAM haven't got their season off to the best of starts, with four defeats from four, but one former Hammer thinks the problem is at the top.

Tony Cottee told TalkSport that he isn't convinced that Manuel Pellegrini is the right man for the job and thinks the club could have done with the stability of another stint from David Moyes.

West Ham went on a spending spree this summer in an attempt to overhaul their team after a disastrous season, where fans revolted against their club.

But the issue isn't resolved as far as Cottee is concerned and he thinks that the club will just bin Pellegrini if relegation continues to look like a distinct possibility.

Cottee said: "They needed to build on things and slowly creep forward; they needed someone to bring stability to the club.

"We had someone at the club, David Moyes, who could have done that.

"But no, the board decides to go and choose someone else. I just don't understand the appointment."

He continued to slam both the club's decision and the way he believes they'll act if things don't improve.

"The next three or four games are going to be absolutely vital.

"But the ironic thing about it is they'll get rid of Pellegrini and everybody will be saying 'oh we'll need a Sam Allardyce or a David Moyes to come in and steady the ship' which is what they had in the first place."

Slamming the decision he said: "That's how shambolic it is, it's absolutely ridiculous."

Pellegrini strengthened his squad across the field when he took the reigns this summer, but they have conceded ten goals from their first four Premier League fixtures and have only found the back of the net twice.

Despite the signings, Cottee isn't convinced by the work of the former title-winning  manager.

He added:  “It’s all right saying Pellegrini is a great manager. But when you are managing Man City and you’ve got the best players in the world, it’s a lot easier than coming to West Ham and having to motivate the players."

Cottee hasn't been impressed by what he's seen from West Ham's performances thus far this season.

And their loss to newly promoted Wolves didn't help matters.

He said: "I've got friends and family who were at the game on Saturday and they told me it was a disgraceful performance-  that can't go on."
