A WOMAN has reportedly been jailed for trying to incite a terror attack against the Belgium World Cup squad.
The squad were allegedly targeted after a message was sent calling for an attack during the team's celebrations in Brussels on July 15 following their return from Russia.
The 25-year-old is in jail and awaiting a trial after being put in custody in early August.
Eric Van Der Sypt, the federal court's spokesperson, told AFP that she has been charged with "incitement to commit a terrorist act."
It is understood that she has denied sending the message.
La Derniere Huere suggests that the message featured a simple photo of Belgium fans.
There was also an explicit message that suggested the attack would take place at the Grand Place, Brussels.
Up to 8,000 attended the celebration ceremony in July.
Around 40,000 more supporters were reportedly in the capital to welcome back their players after the World Cup.
Belgium's squad received a heroes welcome as they touched down in Belgium after finishing third in Russia.
After being beaten by France in the semi-final, Romelu Lukaku and Co beat England 2-0 in the third-place play-off.
