The Slovenian keeper kept Gareth Bale and co at bay during the derby on Saturday, which was his fourth clean sheet of the season.

At just 25, the shot-stopper has plenty of years left at the top, but the revelations of these stats have left fans bewildered as to why he was excluded from the Best Fifa Football awards.

Ex-Atletico Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois snatched the prestigious best goalkeeper award, with Hugo Lloris and Kasper Schmeichel were named as the other finalists.

David De Gea made the team of the year, but there was no sign of Oblak's name anywhere that night.

Oblak's highest number of clean sheets comes from 2015/16, where he managed 24 and only let in 18 goals.

Last season he kept Atletico Madrid at the top end of the table conceding 22 goals and boasting 22 clean sheets.

He helped his side to lift the Europa League trophy, but many have also hailed Diego Simeone's defensive line-up for these stats.

However, his boss recognises his impressive form even if others don't, when asked about his ommission from the Fifa awards, Simeone said: "Oblak is among the best three in the world, not being in that group gives you little credibility.

"The world talks to Oblak as the best goalkeeper."
