Thierry Henry next club odds as Monaco launch bid for wannabe boss
Frenchman was initially heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa before his former club showed an interest
THIERRY HENRY is 5/2 to become the next Monaco manager.
The Ligue 1 side want the Arsenal legend to become their boss after a poor run under Leonardo Jardim.
The Frenchman appears to be on the verge of stepping up into a managerial role after working as a coach for Belgium at the World Cup.
The 41-year-old was heavily linked to becoming the new Aston Villa boss to replace Steve Bruce.
But the talks of a move to the midlands have cooled as an opportunity to return to Monaco as boss has emerged.
Henry would be brought in to turn around their shocking start to the season, which sees them lingering in the bottom three with just one win in nine games.
A move to the Stade Louis II would see him start his managerial career at the same club he began his playing career, after making his debut for Monaco in 1994.
Betfair: Theirry Henry first club as manager
Monaco 5/2
Leicester 11/2
Barcelona 14/1
Aston Villa 33/1
Arsenal 25/1
Manchester United 66/1
Leicester and Barcelona are also potential destinations and appear more likely than a move to Villa Park, according to the bookies.
Spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “The talk over Henry heading to Villa has died down and his odds of heading to the midlands are now out to 33/1 from being as short as 1/5 yesterday.
"The rumour mill is now in overdrive about a possible move to Monaco with reports the French club are about to sack Jardim and have their eye on Henry and we now make it 5/2 that he will take over.”
