Dillian Whyte slams ‘deluded’ Dereck Chisora and manager David Haye as talks over Christmas showdown continue
Whyte is ranked No1 by the WBC and WBO, but cannot land a title shot at Deontay Wilder or Anthony Joshua so wants a dance partner for December 22
DILLIAN WHYTE says negotiating with deluded Dereck Chisora and ego-maniac manager David Haye is like having two ex-girlfriends gang up on you.
The Body Snatcher, 30, edged a thrilling 2016 split decision win over the 34-year-old, re-branded, War machine.
A rerun of the fight-of-the-year contender looked sorted, but Chisora appointing the Hayemaker, 38, as his manager threw a heavyweight spanner in the works.
Whyte is ranked No1 by the WBC and WBO, but cannot land a title shot at Deontay Wilder or Anthony Joshua so wants a dance partner for December 22.
Whyte told SunSport: “A lot of these guys say they want to fight but they soon find a lot of nonsense reasons to get out of it, or they try to price themselves out of a deal by coming up with an unrealistic figure.
“Dereck named a figure, it was more than we wanted to give him, we offered it and then he signed with David Haye.
"Now we are trying to deal with a deluded guy and an egotistical maniac.
“It’s like negotiating with two of your ex-girlfriends teaming up on you when you have moved on and met a new girlfriend.”
Since defeating Chisora, the Brixton ace has racked up four more wins, but a legal blunder by the WBC means unproven American Dominic Breazeale remains Wilder’s contracted mandatory challenger.
If Tyson Fury beats the Bronze Bomber on December 1, a rematch is all-but guaranteed and if Wilder retains his green belt he will likely defend against Breazeale, or decide who is the undisputed king with Anthony Joshua.
The frustrating boxing red tape would have left the young Whyte raging, but he has matured and mellowed these days - apart from when it comes to his rivals at the negotiating table.
At his Loughborough training camp, Whyte said: “I am a simple straight-forward guy when it comes to making fights, I just want to crack-on.
“I don’t have time for nonsense. I just get in there, if people want to fight me then they just have to be reasonable with the deal.
“I gave Chisora what he wanted and then he brought Haye on board to get him the same deal that he was going to get anyway and Haye is making the deal difficult.
“I thought bringing Haye on board would make the deal easy but it has made it more difficult. Haye is an egomaniac, some of the things he wants are crazy.
“I was realistic with them, we offered 25 per cent, then 30 and then we moved again to a bit over that but now Haye is on board and he wants 50-50. I will just end up fighting someone else.
“To make the amount of money I am offering him for one fight, he would have to have 10 or 20 fights and he doesn’t have that many left in him.
"He will end up fighting someone young and hungry and losing because he is not as motivated.”
