Hulkamania returned at the event but hundreds of wrestling fans were unhappy due to Terry Bollea's out-of-ring actions

HULK HOGAN returned to the WWE ring for first time since being fired with a shock appearance at the controversial ‘Crown Jewel’ event in Saudi Arabia.

The 65-year-old, real name Terry Bollea, was booted out of the company in 2015 after a secretly filmed sex tape was leaked in which he was accused of using racist language.

After admitting his mistakes and taking a three-year suspension, Hogan was reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame in July 2018.

The grappling icon was given another chance after numerous public apologies and volunteering to work with young people.

These efforts led to a return to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame.

Hogan might have been drafted in as big names like and John Cena allegedly refused to attend the show following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi embassy in Turkey.

But despite a worldwide outcry over the killing - and question marks over the Saudi Government's involvement - went ahead and listed stars to appear at Friday's event in Riyadh.

Smackdown hero Bryan and Cena, a huge name in both Raw and SmackDown, were written out of their Crown Jewel matches after taking a stand over Khashoggi's death.

Hogan told the Orlando Sentinel how keen he is to join the WWE in Saudi Arabia.

He said: “We’re moving forward at a rapid pace.

“It’s exciting to have this opportunity again after all these years where I was there and gone.”
