Frank Bruno celebrates birth of two granddaughters after his daughters Rachel and Nicola give birth 12 weeks apart

Boxing legend is also to be made an honorary doctor following a brave ongoing fight to end mental health stigma

GOOD news continues to come Frank Bruno’s way after it was revealed the boxing legend is celebrating the birth of a second granddaughter in just 12 weeks.

The former world heavyweight champion’s daughter, Rachel, 32, gave birth to Amaya in July.

And now his older daughter Nicola, 36, has a new addition, Olivia, who arrived in October.

Confirmation of the exciting news comes just days after it was announced Bruno is set to be made an honorary doctor after his ongoing fight to end mental health stigma.

The old "one-two" combo has delighted Bruno, who will receive his award from Bournemouth University at a graduation ceremony later today.

He told the: “I had a dream to be world champion in boxing just like my hero Muhammad Ali.

“It was a long journey but, through blood, sweat and tears, I managed to climb that mountain and reach the peak of my success.

“My trainer always said my problems would start after I finished boxing and never a truer word was said.

“Since I retired I have been blessed by the way the British public have continued to hold me in high esteem."

Back in July, the 56-year-old revealed he hadn’t needed to take medication for three years after turning to fitness in a bid to improve his mental health.

Bruno became world champion at the fourth attempt, beating Oliver McCall by a unanimous points decision at Wembley in 1995.

He held the title for around six months before being beaten by Mike Tyson and retiring with a record of 40 wins in 45 fights.
