Arsenal pulled the plug on the Welshman's new contract as they feel the money can be spent better elsewhere.

Some fans aren't giving up on the prospect of Ramsey staying yet though - taking to social media to lavish praise on the midfielder after he was awarded the Premier League goal of the month for October.

One Twitter user responded to Ramsey expressing his delight at receiving the award, saying: "Our team effort. That says it all.

"Why don't you stay legend? We surely will miss you."

Another added: "Stay, Stay, Stay..."

Ramsey's stunning back-heeled finish in the Gunners' 5-1 victory at Fulham landed him the accolade.

The 27-year-old started the move in his own half when he exchanged passes with Hector Bellerin, before breaking through the middle and ghosting into the box.

Player of the Month Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found Ramsey superbly - who found the net with a sublime back-heeled dink.

The versatile midfield ace believes the strike at Craven Cottage is one of the best he's scored in his career.

He said: "I was delighted to be a part of it and finish it off.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery describes horrific Danny Welbeck injury as 'the worst news'

"It's definitely right up there [with my best goals], that's for sure.

"Auba' crossed the ball and it was slightly behind me so I had to try and adjust and that was the thing that came into my mind first, to try and flick it back towards goal.

"I think we've been renowned for scoring some really good goals as a team and that was just another example."
