Arsenal fear Danny Welbeck will be out all season with horror ankle injury

It is believed that the England striker has broken, dislocated and suffered ligament damage but specialists are waiting for the swelling to reduce

ARSENAL are facing the increasing prospect that crocked striker Danny Welbeck will be ruled out for the season.

The England striker required oxygen after suffering a horror injury in the 0-0 draw with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night.

It is believed Welbeck has broken, dislocated and suffered ligament damage to his ankle.

The 29-year-old has been treated in hospital but experts are being forced to wait until the swelling reduces until they can carry out a full diagnoses.

The devastating injury also means the striker has more than likely played his last game for the Gunners with his contract expiring next summer.

He has already lost around 18 months of his career to serious injuries and now faces yet another major setback.

Arsenal are expected to reveal a definite diagnosis within the next 72 hours.

It could force boss Unai Emery to make their move in January and land a replacement.
