DESPITE the fact Spain failed to qualify for the Nations League Finals next summer, Sergio Ramos still had every reason to smile over the weekend.

Ramos suffered an adductor injury in the 3-2 defeat to Croatia last Thursday and thus was released from international duty by the Spanish FA.

That meant the Real Madrid defender travelled back to Spain before training at the club's Valdebebas facility on Friday morning.

He then was able to make the trip to Seville - to watch his horse become a world champion!

Ramos, 32, was accompanied by his family and friends at the Salon Internacional del Caballo (SICAB) event.

SICAB is the grand final for the Spanish national championships for PRE stallions and mares.

And Ramos and co jumped for joy after it was announced his horse, Yucatan, had won silverware.

The Madrid ace, whose ongoing feud with Liverpool's Dejan Lovren shows no signs of coming to a halt, is a huge horse riding fan.

Real boss Santiago Solari will be hoping Ramos' recent success off the field will be replicated when he returns from injury.

After a shocking start to the season, Solari's men have won their last four games in all competitions - though there is undoubtedly plenty of room for improvement for Los Blancos.
