Tom Heaton considering drop to the Championship with Leeds after falling down Burnley pecking order
Heaton, 32, was on standby for Gareth Southgate's England World Cup squad
TOM HEATON will consider a move to the Championship with high-flying Leeds.
The Burnley keeper wants to kick-start his season after injury and is willing to look at Championship options.
Marcelo Bielsa is looking at goalkeepers following Jamal Blackman’s broken leg seeing him head back to Chelsea.
Heaton, 32, is behind Joe Hart in the pecking order at Turf Moor and Nick Pope will return from his dislocated shoulder next month.
He wants regular football after getting limited to the Europa League tie against Olympiakos and the EFL Cup defeat to Burton this season.
England boss Gareth Southgate is a huge fan of Heaton and had him on standby for the World Cup, with a shoulder injury ruling him out of the bulk of last season.
But he is now focusing on playing regularly two seasons after starring for the Clarets when they were promoted to the Premier League.
Former Whites midfielder, Andy Couzens, also believes that the ex-Manchester United youngster could make the move to Elland Road.
Speaking to Proper Sport's Talking Shutt podcast, he said: "You look at him and he’s most likely third choice at the minute, at Burnley.
"He’s not playing and he needs to play games. He’d be a great signing.
"I think that an international goalkeeper would be good to come in and push Peacock-Farrell and him in particular would be fantastic - he's been involved with England in the past."
