ARSENAL could not believe their luck after Jefferson Lerma bizarrely put the ball into his own net to give them the lead.
The Bournemouth star's monumental error has been labelled as the "best own goal of the year" by shocked fans on social media.
Lerma produced a strike that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo would be proud of, but it went in the wrong goal.
The 24-year-old attempted to clear the danger after Sead Kolasinac delivered a ball into the box.
But the Colombian's powerful touch resulted in a volley flying past Asmir Begovic and into the top of the net.
Fans on Twitter could not believe their eyes as Arsenal celebrated the opener at the Vitality Stadium.
One said: "Jefferson Lerma really might have scored the best own goal of the year with this belter. What a hit!"
Another added: "That Lerma goal deserves to be nominated for goal of the month."
While another supporter suspected that the Cherries ace was an Arsenal fan in disguise.
One social media user said: "Lerma is a Gooner!! What a goal!!"
Unai Emery's side looked set to go into half-time with a one goal lead, but Joshua King pulled one back in stoppage time.
The 26-year-old found the net from close range after David Brooks delivered the ball into his path.
