Jose Mourinho explains why he dropped Alexis Sanchez for Man Utd’s win over Young Boys
Chilean forward has struggled to adapt to life at Old Trafford and was previously left out for the West Ham loss earlier this term
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has explained his decision to leave out Alexis Sanchez for his side's clash against Young Boys.
The Chilean winger was not in the match-day squad for the narrow victory - where Marouane Fellani scored a stoppage time winner to seal qualification for the Red Devils.
And under-fire boss Mourinho has said the 29-year-old was not injured for the match.
Speaking after the game, the Portuguese said Sanchez was simply left out.
And he was furious at being asked about those who didn't play.
He said: "No he is not injured, but it is quite curious because you always speak about the ones who are not playing.
"You put me in difficult situations, with difficult questions, but you could be nice to me and say; 'tonight, Jose, you play as a nine and I could go from there. But no, you say I left big names outside.
"Yes I did, but I play other guys and for me the good thing is those who played gave everything and I'm happy with their attitude."
Ex-Arsenal winger Sanchez has had a dismal time with Man Utd since his move last January.
Earlier this term he was dropped by Mourinho for United's clash against West Ham.

And he has only started three times in the last ten games since - with Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Juan Mata often preferred to him.
Sanchez is on a lucrative £500k-a-week-contract at Old Trafford and fans will be hoping he can turn his form around ahead of the hectic festive period.
He has only scored three times in 22 appearances since his move.
Meanwhile, Mourinho also lamented those who pass judgement from the studio - saying it is much harder managing on the sidelines.
Speaking about some pundits, he said: "I would invite those people to sit on the bench as managers, but I think its maybe better to have lots of holidays in Barbados and sit in a TV studio and touch the electronic dummies.
"I think it’s much more comfortable than to be on the touchline."
