have compared the duo as Mourinho currently leads the Premier League sack race while May is desperately struggling to get her Brexit deal through Parliament.

An 888sport spokesman said: “It’s difficult to think of two people with less job security right now than Mourinho and May – and both could be removed from their positions within the next couple of weeks.

"However, while nobody seems to want the poisoned chalice of becoming Prime Minister at this crucial point during the Brexit negotiations, there’ll be no shortage of managers who fancy the United job – which could prove fatal for Mourinho.

“Theresa and Jose may have more in common than might seem – they’ve both struggled to reign in key dissenters in their ranks, as well as having issues with their right-wing.

"While a job swap may seem out of the question, May could do worse than ask Mourinho about United’s Champions League defeat to Sevilla last season for a masterclass on how to leave Europe with the minimum of fuss.”
