Frenkie De Jong admits he may leave Ajax in summer as Man City lead race for Dutch star
Midfielder fuelled transfer speculation as he confirmed he is a huge admirer of Pep Guardiola's style of play
MANCHESTER CITY target Frenkie De Jong has admitted he could leave Ajax in the summer.
The Dutchman, who has also been linked to Barcelona, confirmed he is a huge admirer of Pep Guardiola's style of football.
De Jong had the best passing accuracy and dribble success rate in the Eredivise last season and he's continued to impress this term.
A number of Europe's biggest clubs will be on red alert after the 21-year-old hinted this could his last spell with Erik ten Hag's side.
Speaking about his future, he told : "It's difficult to say what will happen.
"I want to finish this season well with Ajax. Then we will see. Maybe I'll stay for another year, maybe I'll leave. I'm not sure."
In regard to the transfer rumours, he added: "I don't pay attention to it. I hear the stories but I just want to finish this season well."
City will be among the favourites to secure his signature, but Kylian Mbappe previously urged Paris Saint-Germain to snap him up.
The Dutch star, who has played 222 games in all competitions this season, has complimented Guardiola's tactics.
He said: "I love this style. Get the ball back quickly, then play possession with so many combinations.

"When you watch that, you get the feeling you want to go out on the pitch and play football with your friends and just enjoy yourself. City and Barcelona are great examples."
He does not pay attention the rumours, but he did admit to admiring a number of stars from the Premier League.
De Jong added: "I like to watch the great players, the ones who are technically good and admire the game.
"I try to see how they move. There are so many I look at, especially the midfielders.
"You have the guys from Barcelona, the guys from Manchester City. Jorginho at Chelsea now. There are so many to learn from."
