Man Utd transfer news: Andreas Pereira could join Valencia on a free transfer as club dither over offering him a new deal
Brazilian spent last season on loan at the Mestalla and join several clubs tempted to lure him away from nothing
MANCHESTER UNITED are facing the prospect of losing Andreas Pereira to Valencia on a free transfer.
The Red Devils are continuing to stall on offering him an extension to his current deal that expires this summer.
Pereira, 23, is highly-regarded among United supporters but fears his progress is being stalled at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian has made just two league starts this season while managing 17 minutes of league action since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Valencia remain a big fan of the attacking midfielder after he spent last season on loan at the Mestalla Stadium.
They eyed the opportunity to land him on a permanent basis but financial struggles meant they couldn't afford the £7million price-tag.
But they have kept a close eye on his situation at United and are able to agree a pre-contract with him this month ahead of a summer switch.
They may face competition from Brazilian side Santos of whom Pereira is a huge fan of.
Last month the club president Jose Carlos Peres revealed: "He is a player that interests us a lot. He is a santista and wants to play for Santos. The family is trying. His father wants to see him at Santos for at least a year.
“The problem is that Manchester are playing hard. We know the end of the contract is in the middle of the year, but we want the player now. With his father, I’ve been speaking, but we have not yet entered into the details of values.”
Pereira, who is set to be handed an opportunity to impress against Reading in the FA Cup tomorrow, has been linked with moves to fellow Premier League clubs.
Arsenal, West Ham and Everton have sounded him out but it is now down to the player himself to decide this next move.
