But, while some slammed Priscilla Kelly's unexpected moves in a fight last month as "embarrassing" and "disgusting", others pointed out that it's not the most outrageous thing to be witnessed by fans.

1. The time a wrestler won a match with his penis

One of the most famous fight finishes in wrestling history saw a pro-wrestler appear to use his penis to spin his opponent in the air and leave him splayed on the floor.

The stunt took place during a match in Osaka, Japan between pro-wrestlers Joey Ryan and Danshoku Dino in November 2015.

Dino had become known for a highly-successful signature move which saw him grab his opponents by the penis.

The star thrust his crotch in a clockwise direction to shake Dino off, forcing him into the air and watching him crash land on the mat in front of him.

2. The star who rubbed his bum in female wrestlers' faces

In the early 2000s, a particularly horrifying move which saw wrestlers rubbing their bum in their opponents' faces became popular.

Known as the 'Stink Face', it was predominantly used by pro-wrestler Rikishi who used  it to 'finish off' his fellow fighters.

After throwing his opponents onto the floor, the nappy-wearing WWE star would squat down and smear his bum in their face.

No one was safe from the 'Stink Face', including female pro-wrestlers.

3. The time a WWE star was 'buried alive'

During a Halloween special that saw two fighters spar outside of the ring, one wrestler appeared to bury his opponent beneath a mound of soil.

Pro-wrestler Mick Foley - nicknamed Mankind - appeared to be trapped beneath the fake ground by Mark Calaway's The Undertaker in a 1996 match.

A shocking end to the end fight saw mankind's hand re-emerge from his 'grave' showing he was still alive.

Many fans have debated as to how WWE managed to pull on the stunt safely, with some suggesting he had jumped into a secret underground compartment as the soil fell into the grave.

In 1996, a pre-recorded clip saw a wrestler interrupt the funeral of his opponent's father and steal his coffin.

Ray Traylor's Big Boss Man could be seen appearing to drive off with Paul 'The Big Show' Wight's dead dad in a car.

While entirely fictional, the harrowing story line shocked many fans.

5. Barbed wire bats as weapons

In a sub-category of the sport, known as hardcore wrestling, participants beat each other until bloody with glass lighting tubes, fan-made barbed-wire bats and other deadly weapons.
The niche regularly horrifies fans with its bloody brutality.

6. The time a wrestler used a staple gun on his opponent

Dylan Summers - known in the ring as Necro Butcher - used the horrendous tool on KC 'Cloudy' Day.

7. Girl-on-girl snogs

Female wrestling has seen numerous instances in the 2000s where fighters planted a kiss on their opponent in order to catch them off guard and win.

Ex-WWE wrestler Priscilla Kelly slammed after shoving her tampon down opponent's throat

One notable incident took place in 2007 between female pro-wrestlers Mickie James and Melina Perez.

However, the stunt - often between straight women - caused controversy because of accusations it was used by WWE to titillate the audience and counter declining ratings.

Bosses particularly came under fire for lesbian-led story lines that saw several minutes of scantily-clad women making out and fondling in the ring - but no fighting.

8. The fight where a snake took a bloody bite out of a wrestler

In a very risky move, a wrestler brought a huge snake into the ring as his weapon of choice.

Jake 'The Snake' Roberts introduced the reptile into his WWE fight with 'Macho Man' Randy Savage in 1991.

Cameras showed the creature slither up and bite Savage on the arm, leaving a bloody bite where his fangs had been.

It was only later revealed by Roberts that he had let the snake bite him in front of his opponent backstage first to prove to him it wasn't poisonous.

While it was clearly a stunt, fans to this day are still baffled as to how WWE executed the very realistic move - Traylor looked genuinely horrified as he begun to pull at the rope around his neck.
Some have speculated that they achieved the effect with a secret harness beneath his clothes.

10. The one with a gun

Last but not least, the most controversial wrestling moment of them all is the fight in 1996 when a wrestler pulled out a gun on his opponent.
While no shots were actually fired in the story line - which saw Bryan Pillman reveal the 9mm gun to defend his family at home against Steve Austin - many Americans viewers were outraged.
The segment came at a time when WWE were meant to be catering to younger audiences and the show was almost pulled off air.

Who knew a tampon was so much more shocking than a barbed wire bat, biting snake or wrestler's bum...
