NELSON PIQUET JNR labelled Felipe Massa an ‘amateur’ as tensions rise ahead of the Marrakesh E-Prix.
The Brazilian was fuming with his fellow countryman just hours ahead of the race in Morocco after launching a tirade of words over his team radio.
The incident happened in the first free practice session which saw Massa get in Piquet Jnr’s way in the streets of Marrakesh.
Piquet Jnr was on a full-power practice lap but had to slam the breaks on and swerve away from Massa who was travelling slower on the racing line before heading into the pits.
Piquet Jnr instantly raged to his Jaguar team over his radio about Massa.
He said: “I hope the FIA saw what Massa did to me in the last corner.
“F***ing ridiculous amateur.”
Later on in the second free practice session, Brit Oliver Rowland also called out Massa over his Nissan team radio saying: "What is this Massa guy doing?"
Former Ferrari and Williams F1 driver Massa is currently in his rookie season in Formula E and is set to race for the second time for Venturi.
Piquet Jr also previously raced in F1 for Renault from 2008-09 and is now racing in his fifth season in Formula E.
Massa’s debut did not go to plan in Saudi Arabia as he finished 14th following a string of penalties.
The 37-year-old says a lot of changes have been made to his Venturi car after a string of errors in Riyadh last December.
He said: “We had many many mistakes in the first race.
“We had reliability problems, I lost most of my sessions in practice.
“I had one on Friday, I did two laps and then stopped in the middle of the track and then in the second one I did less than half the session.
“So we had a lot of mistakes with settings, things for the regen and also I had the drive through for fan boost, as I had the wrong information.
“There are so many different things which we have changed already, since that race to this race to make things easier, simple and more efficient.”
