Serie A side Cagliari stuck at training base because of milk farmer protest outside
Protesters requested the players to show solidarity before letting them leave for the airport
SERIE A side Cagliari were locked into their own training ground because of an udderly ridiculous protest over the price of milk.
In bizarre scenes, the club's players were trapped inside their training ground on Saturday until they joined the protesters - a group of around 100 local farmers.
Cagliari were about to fly to Milan for Sunday's Serie A game at San Siro against the Rossoneri.
But over 100 Sardinian protesters blocked the exit from their Asseminello training ground, complaining they were not paid enough for their produce.
The farmers were seen throwing their milk away and ordered Cagliari players to do the same if they wanted to leave the training complex and catch the plane on time.
And a video emerged on social media showing the club's stars Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Deiola knocking barrels of milk over in a sign of solidarity with the protesters.

The farmers insisted they were demonstrating "peacefully" and demanded milk to be sold at a price including "production costs and something extra to make living from", according to.
One of the protesters told Gazetta dello Sport: "We simply want to defend our rights.
"We produce milk at €1 plus VAT and we aren't going back.
"If they aren't able to sell it at a decent price, that's not our fault."
Cagliari are currently 15th in Serie A, four points above the relegation zone, while Milan sit in sixth.
Barella has been a transfer target for Manchester United and Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly being turned down by the 22-year-old midfielder in January for "family reasons".
