Paul Pogba has bounced back from his Champions League nightmare and bossed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
MANCHESTER UNITED recovered from their Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain by beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Paul Pogba bounced back following his red card in Europe and perfectly orchestrated the Red Devils play while Chris Smalling and Victor Lindeolf were rock solid at the back.
SERGIO ROMERO
THE Argentinian keeper did not always catch the ball cleanly but he always ensured he got at least one part of his body behind it.
LUKE SHAW
THE left-back’s positioning left a bit to be desired as he kept getting dragged inside allowing Chelsea to exploit the space down his flank.
VICTOR LINDELOF
LOOKS a different player from the first half of the season. Was caught out a couple of times but was nothing like the calamity he was under Mourinho.
CHRIS SMALLING
THE new vegan put on another meaty performance in the centre of United’s defence. It must be all those beans - because he was certainly full of them after this.
ASHLEY YOUNG
WAS forced to walk a red card tightrope after his first-half booking for clattering Pedro. But the United skipper remained as committed as ever. Booked.
ANDER HERRERA
LOVES playing against Chelsea and after seeing a long-range shot saved, he netted against the Blues again with a header after an excellent run.
NEMANJA MATIC
CHELSEA will argue their former player was fortunate to stay on the pitch in the second half following a first-half yellow card. Booked.
PAUL POGBA
THE Frenchman was magnificent as he set up the first goal with a superb cross before starting and finishing the move for the second, which was all about his desire to get his head to the ball.
JUAN MATA
THE Portuguese playmaker started in the hole just behind Lukaku and Rashford and faded after a bright start to the game.
MARCUS RASHFORD
THE England striker ran the United defence ragged with his pace and his pinpoint cross for Pogba’s goal with simply stunning.
ROMELU LUKAKU
THE big Belgian made a bright start as he fired an early shot over the bar. But he failed to keep up the pace and was subbed after the break.
ALEXIS SANCHEZ (ON LUKAKU, 72')
THE Chilean had a fine display as a sub if you define fine as not injuring yourself by running into a linesman. Not even he could ruin this United win.
ANDREAS PEREIRA (ON MATA, 75')
THE Samba star kept things nice and simple to ensure the Red Devils
saw this one out.
SCOTT MCTOMINAY (ON RASHFORD, 93')
THE Scot hardly had a touch as came on for the final few seconds.
