Ex-England football star Gary Neville apologises after his hospitality chain closes another failed restaurant

MAN United legend Gary Neville has apologised after his hospitality chain was forced to close another failed restaurant and said: “We all learn don’t we”.

The 44-year-old ex-Red Devil and former teammate Ryan Giggs have shut down Café Football in Manchester city centre a week after they axed the diner’s branch in Stratford, East London.

It is the latest in a series of flops from their footie themed GG Hospitality brand leading Neville to shoulder the blame for his chief executive Winston Zahra.

The former England defender said: “Winston has been picking up the pieces of a couple of decisions I’ve predominantly made in the last two or three years.

“They were decisions made by me while Ryan has been coaching and Winston has been in Malta and the rest of the team have been holding their heads in their hands... but we all learn don’t we?”

Neville and Giggs, 45, also shut down their attempt at an A-list Manchester club Mahiki in June last year and fine dining restaurant Rabbit in the Moon four months later.

Samoan themed Mahiki closed less than a year after opening after it struggled to draw the crowds and racked up £1.4million in debts.

The Manchester bar promised to be “the very opposite of pretentious” but failed to match the popular flagship that launched on Dover Street in London in 2006.

It had a 2.5/5 rating on TripAdvisor with one slamming it as “tragic” while another blasting: “The worst night out I’ve ever had”.

The cocktail bar threw a lavish launch in October 2017 featuring David Beckham partying alongside Corrie stars and The Real Housewives of Cheshire but it immediately flopped.

And Asian diner The Rabbit In The Moon described by one critic as “the most bonkers restaurant I’ve ever reviewed” was shut after nearly two years.

Chef Michael O’Hare promised to get the restaurant a Michelin Star but the “space age Asian” menu that included fried calf brains, crispy rabbit ears and octopus hot dog was panned by diners.
