UFC London result: Molly McCann survives sickening eye injury to become first English woman to win
Liverpool starlet's flyweight bout with Brazilian Priscila Cachoeira left the Brit with a gruesome injury
UFC star Molly McCann survived an horrific eye injury to become the first English woman to win in the MMA company.
The flyweight brawler survived a late fightback from Priscila Cachoeira to win convincingly on all three cards 29-28.
But she admitted she was blinded in the purple and bloody eye that was caught with a huge right hand.
After hearing the final bell and leaping the octagon cage to celebrate with her team, McCann said: “I am from the hardest f******* city in the world
“I can’t see, I don’t know what’s going on, I look like the elephant woman.
“I wanted to give a performance everyone would be proud of.”
The Liverpool heroine made a strong start to the fight, landing a series of looping left hands but none of them stopped the visitor in her tracks.
In the second round it looked like the rock-hard Scouser would get a submission win in front of her deafening home support.

After taking Cachoeira to the ground, McCann looked close to a rear naked choke but that evolved into an armbar that she was just seconds away from locking in.
But, at the start of the third and final round, the giant welt on her left eye started bulging and the doctor was called in to inspect the gruesome injury.
The medic gave permission for the fight to carry on and McCann finished the fight by sticking her fingers up and leaping into her crowd to celebrate.
