Deontay Wilder slams Tyson Fury’s opponent Tom Schwarz as ‘punching bag’ and says Gypsy King’s performance was ‘just OK’ as rematch nears
DEONTAY WILDER has blasted Tom Schwarz as just a "punching bag" after Tyson Fury stopped him in the second round.
The Gypsy King ended up putting on a show inside and outside the ring in Las Vegas as he made a Sin City debut.
Undefeated German heavyweight Schwarz was no match for the speed and slickness of the Gypsy King, and the fight was waved off after less than six minutes.
With the rematch against Deontay Wilder already being talked about for 2020, it was no surprise to hear the Bronze Bomber give his thoughts on Fury's performance.
But the American was less than impressed.
Speaking to , Wilder said: “It was a cool performance. It wasn’t much of an opponent. I think (Schwarz) only threw four punches. He was a punching bag.
PERFORMANCE JUST 'OK'
“Fury did what he was supposed to do. They’re trying to promote him up, saying things, selling this story about him over and over again, talking about him as the lineal champion.
"It’s building him up. But the performance was just OK.”
Fury and Wilder fought to a contentious draw in December last year, with many believing the Brit should have won the WBC belt.
But the world of boxing will be excited to learn that negotiations are well underway for Fury to get a shot to right that judges' wrong.
BIG FIGHTS BELONG IN VEGAS
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao's 2015 bout was dubbed the fight of the century and grossed more than $400million.
But Arum is sure those eye-watering figures can be eclipsed so long as the clash is staged in Sin City.
Speaking at a press conference after the Gypsy King's whitewash in Las Vegas, Arum was asked whether a New York fight would be a possibility as the shorter flight times might benefit British fans.
But keen to maximise revenues, Arum said: "The difference is , if it's a massive fight like this would be, like Mayweather vs Pacquiao or Canelo v Golovkin it belongs in Las Vegas.
"Because the casinos bring in the biggest punters therefore the prices are sky high.

"The gate that would do £2million in the O2 in London or that would do two or three million dollars in New York would do $30million in Las Vegas.
"It has the infrastructure to handle a big fight.
"So without any commitment from anybody I would think Las Vegas would be the likely place for that fight."
